Transportation or Recreation

When it comes to bicycles and trails, the argument sometimes comes to whether we are funding transportation, or just someone's leisure.
While the next argument could be which is more important, here are a couple articles worth reading, that might be some food for these thoughts.

By reassigning seasonal helpers from trucks to one of eight bikes used to supplement dedicated delivery routes, one branch was able to reduce driver hours significantly and make more deliveries in the heavily senior-populated area during the day (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) rather than into the evening, which earlier sometimes ran as late as 9 p.m.
